Shivelbine House - 1998-Current

The Shivelbine Mansion is the third and current Sigma Nu Chapter House. Built in the very early 1900s, the Shivelbine Mansion is one of the oldest and most beautiful homes in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. sold to the University Foundation by the Shivelbines, this home is officially on campus.

Shivelbine has a capacity of 17 men who reside in eleven rooms in the Mansion. There are five single rooms and six double rooms. Rooms at this Sigma Nu House are quite larger than dorm rooms and other on campus living offered by the University and other Fraternities. The average single room size is larger than doubles offered in the dormitories. Double rooms at the House are also much larger, some averaging twice the size of University dorm rooms.

The house really isn't pink! For being nearly one hundred years old, the house features central heating and air conditioners throughout the house. Recently, a half-court basketball court has been added to the north side the property funded by money raised by Sigma Nu members. A regulation-sized sand volleyball court is on the west side of the Mansion and is refered to as the "Handball Court" by Sigma Nus. There is also a computer lab on the top floor that has a LAN connection for access to the Internet. For those personal computers that want high speed Internet, a Wireless Network is in operation at the house offering internet access anywhere in and around the house for any members with a wireless network card in their PC or Laptop.

Features of the Sigma Nu House that are unique from average on campus living include an upstairs common area with Big Screen television, a full-size kitchen with a oven, range, refridgerator, full-sized freezer, and dish washer, a laundry room, a dining room area, a lounge area with leather seating and an adjacent solarium, many storage rooms, and a large Chapter room on the top floor running the length of the Mansion.
